The Busy Bees Quilting Group

"We are more than just a bunch of pretty faces."

Busy Bees meets at 8:30 every Wednesday morning in the Busy Bee Room, which is located at the back of the Family Life Center. Ladies from FUMC and also other churches in the community gather for hand piecing and hand quilting a wide variety of quilts. Some are quilts that our group has created while others have been brought to us by individuals in the community. Money received from these quilts is used each year to furnish a scholarship for a graduating Lindale senior, Meals on Wheels, David Powell Food Pantry, FUMC, and other community projects and needs. New members are always welcome. If you can thread a needle, we would love to have you join us. Also, we are always in need of donations of 100% cotton fabric for our quilts.

We are trying some different projects with our group. Busy Bees will be making baby quilts for our church members to be presented at the baby's baptism with an invitation for the congregation to tie a knot and say a prayer for our newest church member. We are also making small tied quilts for those who may be experiencing illness or difficult times. The idea is for knots to be tied into the quilt by friends representing prayers, love, and concern for the recipient. Prayer quilts, like prayers, cannot be bought. If you would like to provide a quilt for someone, you may make a donation to the Busy Bees. Finished prayer quilts are on display in our church library. Forms for the quilts maybe found in the library or in the Busy Bee Mailbox in the church office.
